Oddity: Unconventional time signatures and an odd choreography…-Saturday April 1 – 3:00pm-6:00 pm

This class is a mini music lesson and choreography all in one.  We’ll begin by breaking down the basics of music theory to understand meter and rhythm.  Then, we’ll start untangling the anxieties generally associated with facing odd time signatures and syncopated or “broken” rhythms.  Students will then practice a few ear-training exercises designed to help you start to identify meters on your own, and strange rhythmic patterns that are hard to follow.  Finally, we’ll apply all of this excellent knowledge to a distinctly weird choreography, filled with unexpected pops, liquid sequences, and strange shapes.  Get ready to get bizzare!
